Fresh from the paddy fields, lovely long grained basmati rice is delightfully flavoured and identifiable by its unique fragrant aroma. When cooked the rich flavour is something else – and here are two dishes that celebrate this finest of ingredients.
Mushroom Pilau
To create this dish we cook the rice with a mixture of herbs and spices to add a subtle extra flavour to the rice. Once the rice is fluffy we add beautiful meaty mushrooms and allow them to soften and the rice to absorb their rich taste. With it’s intense mushroom taste this is one to enjoy with a good meaty dish.
Ghee Bhat
This is one for butter lovers as creating the dish requires fresh butter to be heated and clarified giving it a subtle nutty flavour. This delightful taste is then further complemented with a mixture of spices and some onion before the rice is added. This rice is great with anything – and beautiful on it’s own too!!
